CHSER Provides Certification through the following Education Programs
 

The Assisted Living Management Certificate Program is designed to meet the needs of the assisted living manager in today's market.  The Program is divided into two components - Level I and Level II.  Both Levels must be completed to receive the individually numbered certificate from The Center for Health Services Education & Research. 

A Certificate of Completion and a letter of documentation will be provided upon the successful completion of each Level.  The individually numbered certificate from CHSER will be awarded upon the completion of both Level I and Level II.

Level I: An intensive three day (24 hours) program in assisted living management which meets all State of Texas requirements as required by 92.41 of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Licensing Standards for Assisted Living Facilities. Participants from other states should check with their state authority to assure that the state accepts NAB approved CEUs. 24 Hours for LNFAs approved by NAB. 3 Hours of Ethics. 24 Hours approved by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners.. This uniquely designed program will help you to expand your leadership in this field and improve your knowledge and skills in:

Level II:  New Opportunities for 2014 to complete the requirements of Level I and Level II for your professional certification. Your certificate will be printed with your own individual number. This is a professional credential and not just a certificate of attendance.

You may complete the Level II requirements by enrolling in one of the following options. Each option is designed to also meet the continuing education requirements for assisted living managers in accordance with 92.42 (a) (1) (c) in the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Licensing Standards for Assisted Living Facilities.

Level II- Options

Option 1 – Internship in Assisted Living Administration – 16 Hours

Description:
The internship is designed to provide an observational experience in one or more assisted living facilities. Requirements include completion of rotations through key departments and service areas.

A comprehensive internship training manual is used by the intern and facility management to provide guidance, structure, and documentation.

CHSER provides assistance to each intern to ensure appropriate placement and follow-up for the internship experience. A certificate of completion for the Level II program and a detailed letter specifying the requirements of the Internship will be given to each participant.

Internship Manual: $25.00
Total: $320.00

Option 2 – Independent Project in Assisted Living Administration – 16 Hours

Description:
The independent project provides an opportunity for the participant to focus on a specific area of interest in assisted living management. Projects require the development of a tangible product that addresses a wide variety of operational aspects. Requirements include a project proposal, review and approval by CHSER Program Directors, completion of the project, and submission to CHSER for final approval of the entire project. Examples of project topics include – but are not limited to – development of marketing plans, resident assessment packets, inventory control systems, survey preparation guides for TDADs surveys, innovative activity programs, employee orientation and re-orientation programs, etc.

Participants are encouraged to be creative as well as realistic regarding costs and benefits of the project. A certificate of completion for the Level II program and a detailed letter specifying the requirements of the Project will be given to each participant.

Project Development Manual: $25.00
Total: $320.00

Option 3 - Advanced Practice Seminar Series - 2 days - 16 hours Classroom based.

Advanced content emphasizing the various NAB Domains of Practice and meets TDADs continuing education requirements for managers.

Advanced Practice Series - Practicum in Assisted Living Administration

This series is useful for individuals desiring either to renew their CALM or CALA certification or to convert their current certification to a permanent certification.

The Advanced Practice Series is designed to also meet the continuing education requirements for assisted living managers in accordance with 92.42. (a)(1)(C) in the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (TDADS) Licensing Standards for Assisted Living Facilities.

Designed to provide opportunities for practical application of managerial skills in the assisted living environment. Each Practicum component consists of 8 hours of credit. Topics for study can be based on the participant's interests and needs. Initial approval and final evaluation by CHSER is required for credit. Participants may also combine more than one 8 –Hour Practicum to broaden the scope of study. For example, an 8-Hour Practicum could include a wage and salary analysis for one position in a major department within the facility’s primary and secondary market areas. A 16-Hour Practicum could include an expansion of the analysis for all positions within the major department. A 24-Hour Practicum could include an expansion of the analysis to include all positions within the assisted living facility.

The Practicum Development Manual details the requirements which include a practicum proposal, review and approval by CHSER Program Directors, completion of the practicum as proposed, and submission for CHSER approval.

A certificate of completion for the Advanced Practice Series – Practicum and a detailed letter specifying the requirements of the Practicum will be given to each participant.

Registration Fee: $135.00 each 8-Hour Practicum
Includes individual assistance from CHSER as needed
Practicum Development Manual: $25.00
Total: $160.00

For practicums extending beyond 8 hours, one manual could be sufficient.
